New updates coming soon. As we start the 2011-2012 school year we will be removing last year's clips and adding new clips from this year. We are almost ready to start taping!!! Enjoy a preview of what's to come for this year's 3rd grade. :)
Welcome to the Third Grade Page
This week, the 3rd grade was playing the ELIMINATION GAME .(2009) This game of keeping the beat and waiting for a musical signal is harder to do than it looks. Watch Mr. Johnson's class do a portion of the game and see if you can figure out what the rules are. The AMAZING thing is that NOBODY was eliminated the very first time the class tried the game!!! Mrs. Johncock says this has never happened before. (2010)
Irish Jig for St. Patrick's Day
Here is an Irish Jig that the 3rd Grade learned in honor of St, Patrick's Day
Crazy 8 game.
Watch us do a new "brain game" we learned called Crazy 8. See if you can figure out what we are doing!
PEnnsylvania 6-5000 !
Watch us dance to an old jazz classic from the WWII era. We are going to see the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra and this is one of the pieces that they are going to perform.
Third Grade Stations
Every so often we stop doing regular Music Class and we do Stations instead. Stations are when we divide the class up into 6 teams, and each team has a different skill to practice. Every 6 minutes the teams rotate to the next station. The skills at each station are some element of Music that we have learned already, and doing Stations gives us a chance to keep practicing these skills in a small group. Mrs. Walker's class is the first class to do stations in 2011.
MARCH - the luck of the Irish to you. Third Grade learns a JIG. (2010)
Here is a clip of Mrs. Walker's class on the second day they were trying an Irish Jig. There is a pattern they have to memorize as well as keep the beat. They were learning about Irish music and Irish instruments as well.(2010)
